Title of the project (Vector control strategies and tools): Studies on malaria situation, role of Anopheles species in transmission, vector bionomics and insecticides susceptibility status of malaria vectors in high endemic districts of Mizoram.
Summary:
The study will covered high malaria endemic districts of Mizoram which include Lunglei, Lawngtlai, Siaha and Mamit districts. Malaria situation will be analyzed to study the efficacy of vector control interventions. From the wild caught Anopheline mosquito, dissection and examination will be done for parasite infected species for identification of malaria vector. Parity as a longevity and age of vector species will be also analyzed using dilatation method. There is no information regarding resistant status of insecticides employed against malaria vector in Mizoram and the proposed study will help to identify the efficacy and resistance status of currently using insecticides in Mizoram. Insecticides susceptibility status assay will be done in DDT and deltamethrin on vector species. This information will provide data on the efficacy of the ongoing malaria control intervention
